What is a force gauge?

A digital force gauge, also called push pull gauge, is a handy instrument to measure the tensile or compressive force exerted in a push pull test. The basic components of a digital force gauge include a load cell, an electronic part, the software, and a display. The straight-forward working mechanism of the force gauge makes it a highly functional instrument in quality testing and research and development (R&D) laboratories.

Mark-10 Corporation’s Series 7 push pull gauge is its top-of-the-line variant. It can be used to measure tensile and compression forces of up to 2500 N. It is designed for quick-action tests because of its sampling rate of 14000 Hz. It would still manage to give you accurate results since it has an accuracy of ±0.1%. Its built-in memory can save up to 5000 readings.

In addition to the averaging and external trigger mode, it has additional features such as programmable footswitch sequencing, break detection, and 1st / 2nd peak detection. For applications requiring measurement of coefficient of friction, the Series 7 force gauge candisplay a dedicated measurement unit. It also supports user-defined measurement units. It is compatible with all of Mark-10’s test stands, including the ESM303.

The Series 5 push pull gauge manufactured by Mark-10 Corporation is designed for heavy-duty applications where the measured force will be between 0.5 N and 10 kN.Its sampling rate of 7000 Hz is one of the best in the industry. At the same time, it does not compromise on precision of the force value being measured. It has an accuracy of ±0.1% of full scale and resolution of 1/5000.

Since most of the industrial applications involve continuous measurement, the Series 5 push pull gauge has a built-in memory that can save up to 1000 values. It also has some special measuring modes to address the varying applications of industries. The averaging mode is for measuring the average force over time, which is necessary for applications such as peel testing. The external trigger mode is suitable for applications such as switch activation testing.

The Series 4 push pull gauge has the same measuring range as that of the Series 2 and 3 push pull gauges. However, it differs in the fact that it has a much faster sampling rate of 3000 Hz and also gives more precise readings since it has an accuracy of ±0.2% of full scale.

To make continuous measurement easier, the gauges in Series 4 have built-in memory that can store up to 50 values. The recorded data can also be transferred to a PC via USB, RS-232, Mitutoyo(Digimatic), or analog outputs. They come with Mark-10 Corporation’s MESUR™ Lite data acquisition software.

The Series 3 force gauge from Mark-10 Corporation can measure forces between 0.5 N and 2500 N with a blazing fast sampling rate of 2000 Hz. It allows you to fix a value and constantly check if the measured force goes above or below that. This is useful to performing pass/fail tests which is relevant to numerous industries. It can also be configured to notify you when the force being measured goes beyond the set point by triggering an alarm.

The force gauges in Series 3 come along with Mark-10 Corporation’s proprietary MESUR™ Lite data acquisition software. This software enables you to export the recorded data into an Excel sheet
