Working of Flowsys continuous flow analyzers

To start Flowsys continuous flow analyzer, the sample and the reagent(s) need to be introduced into tubes which are separated by bubbles. Each segment of the sample mixture is passed through a mixture coil where the chemical reactions occur. The sample is then moved to a flow cell where it is analyzed by a detector.

The Microflow continuous flow analysis (CFA) technique used by Flowsys, also called segmented flow analysis technique, enables different variations of flow analysis to be performed. The physical properties of the flow line and segmentation in Microflow enable high operational efficiency, continuous mixing, and blazingly fast kinetics reactions. Flowsys’ tightly-integrated and modular sample preparation and handling technique helps achieve tremendous repeatability.

The whole analytical process is performed in a reaction line with an inner diameter of 1mm. The analyzer has a high-precision, multi-channel pump for each determination which provides total flexibility and expedites maintenance. It has been designed with special focus on safety of operation for modern-day CFA applications using inline distillation (cyanide, phenol index) or UV-digestion (total-P, total-N).
